Low Tide starts on a Quick Weave handle. If you have never used one before for a wall/door basket you are in for a treat! Just slide the spokes in and GO! This basket is an exercise in spacing and shaping. Since it is woven on a Williamsburg shaped handle you will be flaring the spokes. The bright blue accent color and seashells complete the look.

“CCC” Camouflage Casserole Carrier

You will insert spokes, start and stop weaving, accented with ‘Camouflage’ spaced dyed weavers (thus the name ‘Camouflage Casserole Carrier’). Complete the basket by double lashing with black cane. This is no frills weaving. The objective is to learn how to weave for a specific shape. The 6” wood base has a cut out in the shape of a heart. This basket is made for a 9” or 10” pie plate. Be the hit of the party with either pie or a dip and a unique basket. Anyone can make a pie or dip, but not everyone can show up with a pie plate basket!

This wall or door hanging basket is woven around a sealed, two color, painted handle. Hints are given to start the spokes. Alternating colors weave up the basket. Oval Sweetgrass Basket w/Twisted Rim

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced basket weaver, this class will allow you to put your imagination to use.Sweetgrass baskets are coiled with sweetgrass and Southern long-leaf pine needles and lashed with strips of palmetto. Techniques taught will enable students to design a variety of shapes and sizes of sweetgrass baskets. This is an art form stemming from West Africa over 300 years ago. No water is required. Scissors only. Additional tools will be provided during class.
